Art Song Intensive

MSVMA will welcome 40 singers in grades 7-12 to our Art Song Intensive on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at Eastern Michigan University.  Students will have the opportunity to sing for clinicians and experience a studio class setting with other performers, learning from their clinics as well. This event will foster a collaborative and inviting approach to the classical music tradition, while also providing excellent instruction to students to better prepare them for the Solo & Ensemble season. 

Eligibility

MSVMA welcomes students in grades 7-12 to participate in the Art Song Intensive. Participants must be enrolled and in good standing in their school's vocal music program. Their school must be a member of MSVMA.

Fees:

Registration is $25 and includes clinic and accompanist. 

Repertoire Requirements for Clinics

• Students must prepare one Art Song for this event.  Examples include any repertoire suitable for District & State Solo & Ensemble Events. 
• Repertoire must be memorized. 
• Musical Theatre, Pop, Rock, Jazz, and other genres outside what is appropriate for District & State Solo & Ensemble are note appropriate for this event. 
• Please be sure to bring a printed, clear copy for the provided accompanist. 

Art Song Intensive Schedule

Schedule: Check-in begins at 5:30 PM

Event time: 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Refreshments are not provided.  Any snacks/water are the responsibility of the student. 

Accompanists Provided. 

Schedules and itinerary are emailed out to participating students and the MSVMA teacher of their school.
